The Republic of Daevastan, also known as SCP-6140-A and previously known as Daeva, is a Central Asian country located in that appears to border China, Kazakhstan, and Russia. The republic is made up of the descendants of slave revolutionaries who overthrew the oppressive and brutal Daevite Empire and took back the land for themselves. However, when orientalist Thomas Bruce created SCP-140, he established a parallel timeline in which Daevastan was supplanted with Bruce's depiction of a malevolent barbaric culture that possessed thaumaturgic and herbomantic abilities.
This was eventually undone when the Children of the Scarlet King inadvertedly destroyed SCP-140 and all of its copies, causing Daevastan's timeline and the new one to merge back together. The O5 Council and other SCP Foundation staff who were aware of the reality restructuring event were given the mission of determining what to do with the newly discovered republic.[1]
Relevant history[]

Qawet, Daevastan.
Early history[]
During the non-anomalous Daevite Empire's reign in the Grand Khanate of the Daeva, a wicked Daeva prince decided to devour an innocent slave child during one of his feasts. The mistreated slaves, who had grown angered over their treatment, were enraged by this act, and they soon rose against their rulers.
The slaves, led by the heroes Qayin and Ab-Leshal, were able to defeat the Daeva class and punish them for their crimes. Following the triumph of the insurrection and the fall of the Empire, the liberated slaves and their descendants formed tribal religions that condemned slavery. One exception was the short-lived Koevar sect, which encouraged the slave trade. This state would go through many changes, coexisting peacefully with its contemporaries and not posing a threat to the world. The nation's horticulture practices also aided other states in perfecting their own horticultural designs.
A Chronicle of the Daeva[]
The 6th Earl of Elgin, Thomas Bruce, paid a visit to the Grand Khanate in 1786, but instead of appreciating its people and contemporary state, he became enthralled by its violent history. His curiosity led him to write the book A Chronicle of the Daeva, a scandalous and orientalist portrayal of the Daevites as magical and terrible barbarians whose empire still persisted.
After writing it in 1788, Bruce had an occultist execute a ritual on the summer solstice to bring his history to life. This resulted in a new history in which Daevastan did not exist and were replaced by Bruce's version of the Daevites, but the nation continued to exist normally in the previous timeline. Daevastan was under Soviet administration in modern times, but after its dissolution, the United Nations recognized it as the Republic of Daevastan. The SCP Foundation also began to operate within Daevastan, constructing Site-761 and Area-25.
Return of Daevastan[]
In the new timeline, the Children of the Scarlet King cult aimed to bring the wicked Daevite Empire to the present day. They stole a copy of the Chronicle from Bruce's descendant, Richard Bruce, and performed another ritual on it on the winter solstice in 2022. This terrified this version of the Foundation, and afraid that the Daevites would appear and take over the globe, they went into their Exclusionary Sites to shelter themselves from the resulting CK-Class "Restructuring" Scenario and prepare for a potential world war. However, the two histories merged back together as a result of the Children undoing the first ceremony performed on the Chronicle, allowing the Republic of Daevastan to "return."
Daevastan's existence perplexed Foundation personnel, including the O5 Council. After learning that they had facilities in the country and gaining information on Thomas Bruce's acts, they spoke with one of their Daevastani employees, Dr. Jad-Leshal Pretten, about the country and what had happened. After the situation was resolved, the Foundation allowed the Republic to survive because it posed no threat to normalcy.[1]
The Tilda D. Moose of U-6000 and SCP-6000-A paid a brief visit to Daevastan while exploring the Wanderer's Library for stories from other worlds. Before departing for the next story, Moose listened to an orchestra perform SCP-6999.[2]
Alternate realities[]
SCP-3799[]
In SCP-3799's altered history, the Daevites survived to current times and inhabited the nation of Daevastan. The Snow Containment Foundation used Daevastan, Tibet, and Uighurstan as bases to attempt to stop SCP-3799 from spreading. Daevastan ceased to exist once the anomaly was defeated.[3]
SCP-5005[]
Playwright Ömer Kastamonu grew up in an alternate Daevastan, a tranquil nation bordering Karakorum, before moving to Lamplight, an interdimensional Bohemian paradise.[4] A female member of the foundation of nomads visited this version of Daevastan after being left stranded by the Multiversal Cargo Train.[5]
Sacred Relic #5674[]
When the Ecumene utilized Sacred Relic #5674 to investigate parallel histories in which the King of Magog never existed, they discovered an iteration of Daevastan ruled by the malevolent, mighty Daevites, who conquered various kingdoms with their Wormwoods.[6]
