SCP-963-1, formerly known as SCP-963 before SCP-963-2's creation, is an ornate necklace currently in possession of Dr. Jack Bright or any one of his other hosts. It is nicknamed "Immortality" for its properties that grant a form of immortality. Upon skin contact, the original body's mind is wiped and replaced with the mind of Dr. Bright.

History[]

Origin and discovery[]

It remains unknown how, why, or when the amulet was created, though it is known that it was in the possession of ██████ ███ when he committed suicide in the presence of several books concerning the supernatural. Both the body and the amulet were discovered by an SCP Foundation agent from the Intelligence Agency, who determined that the amulet was impossible to damage and followed protocol XLR-8R-██ to bring it to a Foundation facility safely. There, it was dubbed SCP-963.

Bright[]

Eventually, a junior staff researcher named Dr. Jack Bright was assigned as the caretaker of SCP-963 for the purpose of researching its capabilities. Later that year, SCP-076-2 broke out of his containment and killed Dr. Bright in the chaos, Bright's soul somehow entering 963-1.

During cleanup less than ten days after 076-2 was contained, D1-113 was assigned to help clear the rubble caused by 076-2's rampage. D1-113 discovered 963 under heaps of rubble, proceeding to touch it. By doing this, his body was taken over by Jack Bright.

In an interview with Dr. ████, Bright insisted that he was who he said he was, only being proven once 963 was taken away and brain function ceased. As Bright was highly dedicated to the Foundation's cause, he was not classed as an SCP and continued to work as a researcher at the Foundation. As brain function would cease if 963 was taken from him, it is kept on him at all times.

Alternate realities[]

Kaktusverse[]

In the Kaktusverse, Dr. Elias Shaw replaced Jack Bright as the soul bound to SCP-963.

Attributes[]

Containment procedures[]

SCP-963-1 is to be given to a member of Class-D Personnel as well as personnel classified as Bright's assistant. 963-1 was supposed to be attached to the wearer's forehead or back of the hand, but was changed, and now 963-1 is hung by a chain from the wearer's neck. 963-1 is not allowed to be hidden on the wearer's body, and any attempt to do so will be met with lethal force.
